# Parallels

Follow a question through evidence, competing Perspectives and the fields it touches.

Escape Meridian connects existing evidence and Perspectives around a working thesis. Each connection is an editorial reading, open to challenge. It does not imply a direct exchange between the people featured, or make a shared source independent corroboration.

## [More capable. More in control?](/parallels/delegated-judgment.md)

When does handing over the work give people more room to decide?

Fields: Intelligence · Work · Experience

Working thesis: Delegating work to AI can free people to spend more of their time on the judgments that matter.

A useful challenge: Finishing more tasks can also remove the practice, authority or bargaining power people need to exercise that judgment.

What could change the view: Follow completed work, review and repair time, retained skill, and who can refuse or change the system. A faster result alone cannot answer the question.

## [Whose voice, whose say?](/parallels/shared-creation.md)

When your work helps train a model, what would make you a collaborator?

Fields: Culture · Work · Experience · Institutions

Working thesis: People who supply the voices, skills and material behind AI can share in its creative decisions.

A useful challenge: Being included in the process is not the same as having control over pay, permission or what happens next.

What could change the view: Ask contributors which decisions they can influence, how consent can change, and what compensation or remedy they can actually obtain.

## [Access is a beginning](/parallels/access-and-power.md)

Who can turn access to AI into a real choice?

Fields: Intelligence · Experience · Infrastructure · Institutions

Working thesis: Wider access to models can let communities shape AI around their own languages, values and needs.

A useful challenge: Access can stay formal when the compute, expertise and authority to make decisions remain elsewhere.

What could change the view: Follow who can adapt, host and govern a useful system, what it costs, and whether affected people can change or refuse its use.

## [A discovery is a beginning](/parallels/discovery-to-benefit.md)

What has to happen for a technical advance to become a shared benefit?

Fields: Science · Intelligence · Work · Infrastructure · Institutions

Working thesis: Better models can create useful capacity across science, work and everyday life.

A useful challenge: A result travels through laboratories, workplaces and power systems before people experience its gains. The benefits and the costs may reach different people.

What could change the view: Look for useful experiments and accepted work beyond the original evaluation, then trace the resources, access and decisions needed to make those results usable.

## [Use it now, or govern it now?](/parallels/present-use-and-present-harm.md)

When today's systems already change work, which present effects should set the agenda?

Fields: Intelligence · Work · Institutions

Working thesis: Waiting for a future model misses both the useful work and the harms already in front of people.

A useful challenge: A vendor launch and a vivid demo do not decide which harm is urgent, or who can refuse the system.

What could change the view: Put a demonstrated present use next to an independently described present harm and ask whether the people affected can see and contest the decision. A leaderboard cannot settle that.

## [The answer is right. Was the question?](/parallels/right-answer-wrong-question.md)

When producing an answer gets cheaper, where does the useful work move?

Fields: Work · Science · Intelligence

Working thesis: Cheaper execution can leave people spending more of their effort deciding what to ask and whether the result serves their purpose.

A useful challenge: Better models and checkable requirements can reduce that effort too. Today's difficulty is not proof of a permanent human advantage, or a reason to add another layer of review.

What could change the view: Take one recurring decision. Compare the usual approach with an assistant that connects prior evidence and checks the requirement. Count useful decisions, missed requirements, time to act, review, repairs and cost. Keep the next task to see whether any learning survives.
